Michael and I actually got to go on a date!
Neither of us has ever been to the Royal Gorge Bridge in Southern Colorado before, so we made a day of it.
The bridge was built almost a hundred years ago (1929), and is the highest suspension bridge. Every year they replace some of the wood planks. When cars drive past, the whole floor shakes. The wind makes the bridge move too.
The view of the Arkansas river (white specks are people on rafts) through the cracks in the bridge - 1100 feet down!
I thought the rock cliffs were fascinating. I won't bore you with the details of what this geologist saw.

This is the track for the incline railroad. It descends at a 45 degree angle from one side of the gorge to the bottom. We were next in line to ride when it was closed due to the forest fire nearby. (the next 2 days the whole park was closed.)

Even with the forest fire, the view was amazing.
